Warwickshire Based Oaks Barn Farm have today heard of their sucess in securing a 20 year contract for their Biomass Heating Plant with Ofgem.
Some 12 months after installation, the process has not been one without headaches and sleepless nights, but the work and significant investment has secured the farms future heating needs for their Luxury Farm Stay.
The commitment to switching from Oil to Wood pellet heating, has been driven by their expanding Farm Stay Business, and was timed in order to coincide with the latest conversion of The Granary, the second of their self catering properties on the farm each of which sleep 6 persons.
The Boiler Supplied by Organic Energy, provides the farm with year round heating, to The Farm, The Coach House and Granary, in addition the plant room also delivers heat to a purpose built drying room which enables the farm to manage all of its laundry in house, further reducing its carbon footprint.
Owner Susan Crawford Commented:
We are delighted at securing this contract, Wayne and I have worked so hard to achieve this with the help of family friends and an expert team of builders, this has really made our Christmas.
Year on year people are choosing their holiday destination based on the green credentials of the destination, thankfully this is within our reach as a Farm Stay and our guests can book with us, knowing that they will be warm without their holiday costing the earth.
This is just one of a number of commitments the farm has made to securing a future which is green, our solar panels generate two thirds of the farms electricity consumption, Last year we won Our Corporate Social Responsibility Award, and 2016 will see the installation of our new Glass House working alongside Norton College as part of the Farms Come Grow With Us Programme
