Tourism body set to launch

Tourism businesses across the Stratford on Avon and Warwick districts are
being encouraged to attend a meeting at the Menzies Welcombe Hotel on
Friday 5 July to find out how they can join the region’s tourism body.
Shakespeare’s England, a not-for-profit partnership, wants local B&Bs,
restaurateurs, hoteliers and attractions to come along to their quarterly
Tourism Forum and find out how they can get involved in the official tourism
organisation for the area.

Shakespeare’s England is a public private partnership between major tourism
organisations and local authorities and has been promoting the district
together with the country’s national tourist board, VisitEngland, both
domestically and internationally on a number of campaigns.

David Collins, Chair of Shakespeare’s England and Royal Shakespeare
Company Head of Marketing said: “A huge amount of work has been
achieved in the past few months to put in place a three year funding
agreement with Warwick and Stratford District Councils for Shakespeare’s
England. We are now in a position to talk to businesses to discuss how they
can get involved, as we work together to promote our region to potential
visitors across the UK and around the world. Shakespeare’s England is a notfor-
profit organisation meaning every penny we raise goes into promoting the

holding a meeting to let the wider tourism community know more about our
plans and how they can join Shakespeare’s England. We warmly welcome
anyone with an interest in tourism to come along and find out how they can
get involved.”

The Tourism Forum starts at 10.30am at Menzies Welcombe Hotel, Stratford
upon Avon and any business wanting to attend should register with Nancy

• Shakespeare’s England the new tourism organisation created to represent tourism
businesses and organisations in the Stratford upon Avon and Warwick area.

• The body behind its creation – the Destination Steering Group – was formed in
November 2011 to drive forward the local tourism agenda with the aim of creating an
official tourism body to represent tourism organisations in the region both
domestically and internationally.

• In August 2012 the group appointed Robin Tjolle as Destination Manager with the
remit of securing funding and setting up the organisation.

• In October 2012 it formally joined forces with Warwick District Council to work
